Our Name Is Our Virtue

I know I look really skinny

So…you might heard the above phrase. “Our name is our virtue” yes it is in Jazon Mraz’s song “I’m Yours”. For me aside from the phrase “I’m Yours” which repeatedly sung in the chorus, it is this “Our name …” phrase that caught my attention. I don’t actually understand the whole song but this part just stick in my mind quite easily because it bears some meaning for me.

So just to recall everything…I started blogging seriously (which is a relative term) about a year and a half ago. It was my on my very birthday (Check it here). I initially not using wordpress.com but Blogger or blogspot.com (here). I was clearly damn lonely (and always is) at that time hence “Unnnoticed Neglected Overlooked” was the name of the blog. Then later it became “Days Without Miracle” or “DWM”. Both blogs names are very negative and sad because they do reflect me. Out of the picture there were few blogs attempt before that. I own domain “mousukoshi.com” which does not exist anymore. I miserably left it unpaid and unupdated for some reasons.

There is one similarity between all three of my blogs that prevail to this day. The url. All of them contains my real name. First alvinalexander.blogspot.com then alvinalexander.wordpress.com and now alvinalexander.net. Yes I am self obsessed and proud or my own name. It is a beautiful name. Alvin Alexander the most beautiful name and I love it when I listen people saying it.

So what’s the catch? Name is really important for me. I keep blogging just for the sake of my own name that I have put as the mortgage of my blogs.  I will protect it and I will keep it live. Thus my name is my virtue.

The journey was not a pleasant one. Countless time I was discourage, countless time I was too upset and want to give up but then I recall that I have acid etched my name in the internet so I must carry on. Unless, somebody else will take it from me again. It took me years to make my name appear in the first Google search page. And as for today I made it.

I would like to respond to Curryegg post “I am who I am“.The post does struck me. Although I don’t have that much reader like Curryegg has but I will keep hold the the truth that I am who I am and it doesn’t matter who will read this or will ever commented on this or not. I will keep blogging.

Then I also like to respond to !x0r@ post “Arghh!“. Quoting “…I thought it was easy to write but it wasn’t…“. I can’t agree more. I always end up with worthless rubbish that are unreadable. I have to topic I have no focus I have nothing. I hate to admit it. I am just lonely have no one to speak with and end up typing useless rants that no one in this beautiful world care to read or comments.(But in !x0r@ case she always have plenty commenter and reader)

But damn it I am still writing something here. And I love it. Here are some articles that made me think again. “Blogging = Freedom” by Doc Searls and an interesting post by Paul Boutin “Twitter, Flickr, Facebook make Blogs so 2004“. Just to quote Boutin’s first paragraph “Thinking about launching your own blog? Here’s some friendly advice: Don’t. And if you’ve already got one, pull the plug.“

So damn it all. I just keep blogging even if my damn posts are boring not funny or useless. Damn all the blog evengelist that keep writing “how to write good blogs” “how to gather many reader” “How to earn money via blogs“. Damn them all I hate reading them because they are just repeating the same thing again and again (and again) what people have wrote tens of million of times over the past years. Flame me for these but I think their posts are just mere Google-Search worth but not worth reading at all. I bet a visit last than 5 seconds.

To make it clear, I hold no grudge over anybody nor have been criticised of any kind. I just practice the freedom of expression here on my blog that hold my name as its virtue.
