Keep On and On and On

IMG 8004

“Just a little bit more”, you told yourself. Even how hard it is just a little bit more would do. You want to keep on moving forward. Your eyes become blurry and you steps become wobbly. You can’t even swing your hand properly. Despite, “Just a little bit more”, you cried in your heart.

It is like running in a very long distant race. Your mind already knew that they are fixed finishing line. Yet when you run and run and keep on running the finishing line seems so far unreachable. Still, you believe that the finishing line is there waiting for you.

Giving up is not an option, you know that but the temptation is so enormous that you just want to let go. The only thing that you gain for giving up is deep regret. Then it’s certainly not a considerable option. Cheer and shout of support around you add guilt to your conscience.

All your joints are painful. Your breaths are short. Your mind comes to a halt. Vision is darkening even in the brightest light of the sun. Questions pop up in your mind. “Where is the glory of my effort?”, “What am I doing here?”, “Is it worth it?” The answers, you know definitely even in the shortest pant of your tiredness.

Then suddenly on the verge of losing it, in your most blurry sight, you see other runners in front of you. They are dashing forward in full spirit. Although it is far, you can see tears of joy of touching the finishing ground. In the wink of moment you awaken from your despair.

That very moment you realize that the glory isn’t just in winning. The splendour is also embedded in the journey. All the pain and hardship are just the right ornament of your bitter odyssey for the sweetest end. Indeed the finishing line is just another starting line for another race. The experiences you gain aren’t comparable to any prizes you won.

On and on and on you go. At last you touch the finishing line. No one cheers for you. No one knows in every lost, you gain a little enlightenment. You smile and say to yourself “I might lose in this battle but I haven’t lost the war yet”.

Yes, just a little bit more applies to a lot of things for me. Reading a book, I would say just a little bit more and I’ll put it down. Blogging on my computer and I would say just a little bit more and I’ll sign off and go to bed. Lifting weights in the gym and I would say just a little bit more, a couple more reps and I’m done.
